The LIFE TECMINE project, awarded in the edition of the LIFE 2023 awards, arises as a result of the search for solutions to existing problems in mining restoration. It has a more integrative approach, pursuing the recovery of the restored area by creating fully functional ecosystems.

In this year's edition, it has been selected among the 9 LIFE projects of 2023 and has received the Citizen's Award for the Best LIFE 23 Project.

LIFE TECMINE is led, promoted and coordinated by the Generalitat Valenciana. Specifically, by the Forest Planning and Management Service of the Conselleria Medio Ambiente, Agua, Infraestructuras y Territorio. The TECMINE team is made up of: the Fundación Centro de Estudios Ambientales del Mediterráneo (CEAM), the Faculty of Geological Sciences of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), the companies SIBELCO MINERALES CERÁMICOS S.A. and Valenciana de Estrategias y Recursos para la Sostenibilidad Ambiental (VAERSA S.A.).
